As a new contributor however, you may feel a little overwhelmed by this project but don't worry, it will become easier and clearer as you go, and if you have any problems, there will always be other members happy to help. Here are some resources below to help you get started.  Have fun!

One of the best places to get started after reading this page is “Getting Started With

BeautyCollaboration.org”:

Browsing

It is a good idea to start browsing BeautyCollaboration.org before going ahead and making changes to it. This is always a good idea because it lets you absorb the "spirit" of the community so that your future contributions will fit neatly into the whole. Here are some browsing tips:

·         Make use of the navigation area on the top bar as well as the sidebar of each page for getting around.

·         Familiarize yourself with the website structure.

·         Be aware that you can find Wiki References to a particular page by clicking on the page title and that you can perform a Wiki Search of the entire site to find pages that contain specific text.

Entry points:

There are a number of entry points into the Beauty Collaboration website

·         The Front Page. This is the first page that most new users see and it also acts as a high level contents page for existing users. You may want to bookmark this page in your browser and note that it is always available by following the “Home” button in the navigation top bar.

·         The Categories navigation link. In this web we use a dynamic category system to group together related pages and, by clicking on “Archive” on the navigation top bar you will be shown a list of all the current groupings available.

·         Page list. This displays a list of the main pages (topics) of the Beauty community website

·         Recent Posts. This displays a list of the post that has been updated most recently.

·         Recent Comments This displays posts that have comments.

·         Search. If you want to search all the pages in the web for a particular piece of text you can perform a search from the right panel navigation area.

Structure:

BeautyCollaboration.org can be edited by a large community of its users, rather than by a small elite group of web authors, it has the potential to grow quite large, very quickly. Therefore, it is important to know how the web is structured so it remains navigable and useful to all.

Contributing

Just because anyone can edit a page doesn't mean to say that anyone should edit a page. Please adhere to the following, general guidelines:

Almost any page can be edited by clicking on the edit tab on top of the page (to edit the entire page) or on an edit link at a section header line (to edit only that section).

Your responsibility (the DOs and DON'Ts)

·         Skim through the list of existing categories so you can see where new pages might fit.

·         Make sure you know how to make changes

·         Do not change other people’s texts unless you have good reason to, and then be gentle. (making text easier to understand is always permitted, as long as the message is intact.)

·         Remember to leave a short explanatory note in the Summary field (below the main edit window) of the changes you have made or/and send an email to the author.

·         Before you make substantial changes to Beautycollaboration.org it is important that you understand the web's structure. In particular, when you create a new page you should:  Categorize it, if appropriate category already exists when you create your new entry (post) or a new page. Use the category checking the corresponding box. If the category does not exist, please feel free to create it.

·         Be succinct and to the point, preview and proof read edits before saving. Consider creating the article first in your user space When you add a new entry just uncheck the publish mark at the bottom of the editor.

·         Do not violate copyrights

·         If you see random links, spam, or other vandalism, Contact us.

Discussion

Sometimes ideas on Beauty Collaboration generate lively discussion, just like they do on a newsgroup. This is a good thing: discussion / debate can lead to a synthesis of differing opinions, or sometimes the differences are the interesting thing about it. We support and encourage this kind of lively discussion.

Advertising

Please do not try to promote your product or business if they are not part of a solution of a specific problem posted by a member. Please do not insert external links to your commercial website unless a neutral party would judge that the link truly belongs in the article; we do have articles about products like Google, or notable businesses such as PXA, but if you are writing about a product or business be sure you write from a neutral point of view, that you have no conflict of interest, and that you are able to find references in reliable sources that are independent from the subject you are writing about.

Signature

Finally, if you write in the first person then be sure to Sign Your Name after your piece.
