The Beauty Collaboration project is a web-based free content industry intelligence platform with a multi-level innovation mall.  Beauty Collaboration provides the world's most comprehensive platform, bringing the entire industry together to meet future challenges. Traditional business strategy is based on competition (win/lose) models: Most of the decisions are based on measurement of market intelligence provided internally or from a third party vendor. Hierarchy, management and protection of intellectual property assets being the priority

Collaboration business strategy is based on cooperative relationship networking and open sources inspiration. BeautyCollaboration.org is a platform for industry members to connect in a professional and social peer-to-peer network driven by collective intelligence instead of business hierarchy.

COLLABORATION IN BUSINESS Beauty industry cooperation in 2009 and beyond!

There are issues in collaboration networking (Should membership in a network be open or closed?).The network governance we have temporary chosen for BeautyCollaboration.org is with 3 levels of collaboration to help you stay in the race:
  1. Knowledge repository (Community pool resource): Where anybody can propose problems, offer solutions and decide which solution to use. (Open)
  2. Innovation Mall (ideas catalyser): Where a company can post a problem, anyone can propose solutions and the company chooses the solution it likes best (Open to industry members and invited guests)
  3. Working Lounge (Innovation Brainstorming Level): Community members gathered into a private group that jointly select problems, decide how to conduct work and choose solution. (Private)

WHAT TO EXPECT? The ins & outs
  1.  Advantage: You receive a large number of solutions from domains that might be beyond your realm of experience or Knowledge, and usually get a broader range of interesting ideas. Challenge: Attracting several ideas from a variety of domains and screening them. but the capability to test and screen solutions at low cost given by BeautyCollaboration.org software broken into easy to use tools make editors & contributors work autonomously.  
  2. Advantage: You receive solutions from the best industry experts. Challenge: Identifying the right party but BeautyCollaboration.org list of experts, consultants, marketers, suppliers, distributors, agent etc... Will help you in the task.
  3. Advantage: You Control the direction of innovation and who captures the value from it. Challenge: Getting contributors to converge on a solution that will be profitable to you Unfortunately BeautyCollaboration.org cannot help you in the matter. We suggest you make the processes and rules that drive parties to work in concert and achieve common goals appealing to your participants. Design incentives, both financial and nonfinancial that attract external collaboration.
